When I asked Tony Quarrington to produce this CD my requests were that we try and present a broad spectrum of the blues, from the early 1920’s to the present, to pay homage to some of my singing idols, and to invite some long time and new musical friends to join us in the recording of this CD.
I’ve had the pleasure of listening to Amos Garrett’s wit and amazing guitar playing for many years both as a fan and as a fellow bandmate. I feel very honoured to have him play on my recording.
When we chose some traditional New Orleans tunes I asked my friends, Canada’s most famous traditional jazz band, The Climax Jazz Band to join us. They have been making such joyous music for over 30 years.
David Gogo was in Toronto for an award show and Tony asked me would I like to have him play on the CD. Of course I said yes. I had heard him play but had never met him. What a talent and what a great guy.
Tony
Quarrington wrote the arrangements and plays Guitar on every tune
as well as Banjo and Mandolin. We even let him sing.
